As an added benefit of membership, SCBCH members can join our sister coalition‟s
Data Cooperative. The HealthCare 21 (HC21) Data Cooperative is a group of employers who have come together to collect, store, normalize, analyze and act on their data in order to improve the value of healthcare benefits they provide for their employees and dependents.
Participants in the HealthCare 21 Data Cooperative maximize the value of their data by:
Owning and accessing their data
Their data is now in a place where they can access it; it is cleaned, validated, and seamlessly mapped in the event members change health plans.
Identifying Opportunities
Data Cooperative members, through quarterly reports and brainstorming meetings, are recognizing the “low hanging fruit” emerging in the illnesses and utilization patterns for their population.
Purchaser Initiatives
Data Cooperative members, with the assistance of HealthCare 21 and outside experts, develop, decide, implement and track strategies to address the issues prevalent in the data.
Currently, HC21 is working with members on the following:
Benchmarking
Data Cooperative members, through quarterly reports and meetings, enjoy the benefit of comparing their company analyses against their Data Cooperative peers.
Using HC21 staff for ad hoc reports and special projects
Data Cooperative members have access to HC21 analysts and outside experts who run ad hoc queries and analyses based on spontaneous and emerging needs. The Data Cooperative currently involves from HC21 two full time analysts and two nurses that oversee many facets of this flagship project. In addition, HC21 uses specialized consultants, including two physicians, an actuary, and a PhD statistician.
