Four Central Goals

  1. Improved Healthcare Effectiveness and Efficiency
  2. Greater Consumer Responsibility
  3. Healthier People
  4. Improved Economic Competitiveness

Membership

From collective purchasing to endorsement by committee, from quality reporting to benefits strategy, the South Carolina Business Coalition on Health brings value to your organization.  Our non-profit status assures that your membership dues go directly to producing the quality information and services described below.

Shared Brain Power
Networking, peer relationships, sharing experiences and ideas, and acting as a coalition banding together are important components to coalition membership.  SCBCH brings together all of the stakeholders in the health benefits arena.  Purchasers, providers, and payors join together in cooperation to discover effective ways to manage the dilemmas that continually challenge our ability to extend quality healthcare benefits to employees.

Prescription Benefit Manager
One of the most impressive benefits of coalition membership is leveraging.  You can access a collective purchasing arrangement PBM through SCBCH which gives you leverage far greater than your company’s independent purchasing power.  Pricing, customer services, and service menus are usually significantly better under collective purchasing arrangements.

Quality Reporting
In the Spring of 2007, the results of an in-depth analysis of South Carolina’s four major health plans will be announced.  This information will help you determine the value of the different health plans in South Carolina and help you decide what plan or plans to offer to your employees.
Beginning in the fall of 2007, SCBCH will be producing an annual consumer guide measuring the quality of upstate hospitals.  SCBCH aims to actively educate coalition members and their enrollees about the quality of healthcare available to them and encourage them to make informed choices.

Benefits Strategy
SCBCH advocates value based purchasing and innovation in the health benefits arena.  SCBCH can help you develop ways to incentivize your employees and provide employee education on different health issues.  Working with your broker and consultant, SCBCH can help you map out a long term health benefits strategy.
