The new Administration and Congress will again attempt comprehensive health care reform. The South Carolina Business Coalition on Health hopes the outcome will be an agenda that includes the following:
- Expanded coverage to include most, if not all, of the 46 million Americans currently uninsured.
- Enhanced coverage for proven prevention interventions.
- Payment Reform, with an emphasis on Chronic Disease Management and Patient-Centered Medical Home.
- National Quality Performance Standards for health plans, hospitals and physicians.
- Increased cost and quality transparency for health plans, hospitals and physicians.
- Incentives that promote personal responsibility.
- Support for the development of an integrated electronic medical record system.
- Preservation of employer based health benefits.
